It is interesting that you chose to cut 1/3 of this photo and turn it black and white. It draws the eye, as I'm sure you know, to the center of the photo, as it is the brightest part of the photo. However, the eye travels back to the black and white on the right and over to the dark sidewalk on the left hand side. This, I feel, is the strongest part of this photo. The fact that it draws your eye across its entire horizontal plane.
The angle and lighting of this photo also has it cut in a diagonal fashion from the lower left to the upper right. This works quite well, though I'd like to see it more prominent. I'm a sucker for the rule of 3rds in photography.
All in all this is a very nice shot. You should do more like this.
